The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) recently hosted a workshop aimed at implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on enhancing technical and professional education. The event featured an awards ceremony for the BPUT Tech Carnival 2024, with notable guests including AICTE chairman TG Sitharam. The workshop emphasized the importance of flexibility, self-learning, and collaboration in education. Additionally, BPUT launched several new initiatives and recognized outstanding contributions from students and affiliated colleges. Over 950 participants attended, marking a significant step towards modernizing education in the region.

BPUT Hosts Workshop on NEP 2020: A New Era for Technical Education


Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) recently held a workshop focused on the execution of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at enhancing technical and professional education, at the Rail Auditorium on Saturday.


The event also featured an awards ceremony recognizing the winners of the BPUT Tech Carnival 2024, with TG Sitharam, chairman of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), serving as the chief guest. He remarked, “NEP 2020 represents a significant shift in the Indian educational framework, emphasizing flexibility, self-directed learning, experiential and multidisciplinary approaches, along with digital integration.”


Sitharam further highlighted the critical role of research, innovation, and collaboration in the modern educational environment.


Notable attendees included Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, vice chancellor of OUTR Bhubaneswar, and Rashmita Panda, CEO of the World Skill Center. BPUT's vice chancellor, Amiya Kumar Rath, welcomed the guests and presented insights on NEP 2020, which is founded on essential principles such as holistic education, accessibility, equity, inclusivity, and outcome-oriented learning. He noted the policy's encouragement of regional language use and the strengthening of industry-academia partnerships.


The workshop concluded with the distribution of 112 prizes to 250 students who participated in 37 events during the BPUT Tech Carnival 2024. Additionally, 24 colleges were honored by AICTE.


On this occasion, the university also introduced several initiatives, including BPUT News, BPUT e-News, BPUT O-Jobz, and the BPUT Multidisciplinary International Conference. The event attracted over 950 participants, including principals and faculty from 135 affiliated colleges and various state technical universities.
