Exploring the Majestic Hanuman Temples of Bokaro District
The Shri Shri Sankatmochan Temple
Situated in the village of Chirudih, about a kilometer from the Nawadih block headquarters in Bokaro, the Shri Shri Sankatmochan Temple is recognized as the second-tallest Hanuman temple in the area. Locals often refer to it as the Mahavir Temple, and it is reported to stand around 105 feet tall and 40 feet wide.
The Tallest Hanuman Statue
In Telo village, located in the Chandrapura block of Bokaro, there is a stunning 51-foot-tall golden statue of Bajrangbali, which holds the title of the tallest Hanuman statue in the district. Its striking beauty is so remarkable that it can be seen from nearly two kilometers away, attracting devotees who come not only to pray but also to capture photographs.
Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple
In the Bermo block, the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is distinguished by its impressive 12-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman. This statue portrays Lord Hanuman holding a mountain, making it a significant site for worship. Devotees from various regions visit to offer prayers and bring offerings such as jaggery and roasted gram (*gur-chana*). The temple is famous for its large statue and the intense devotion displayed by visitors, especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays when crowds gather in large numbers.
Sankat Mochan Manokamna Hanuman Temple
Located in Chas, the Sankat Mochan Manokamna Hanuman Temple draws devotees not only for its name but also for its impressive architecture and historical importance. The temple features an 18-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman, which serves as a central point of faith for many.
Mangal Mahavir Temple
In Bokaro city’s Sector-6, the Mangal Mahavir Temple is another notable Hanuman temple in the district. This temple is particularly recognized for its 8-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman, depicted with a discus (*Chakra*) and a mace (*Gada*), which attracts many devotees.
Additionally, a massive 15-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman is also present in the temple complex, making it a significant attraction for visitors. This 12-story temple is celebrated for its grandeur and unique architectural style, marking it as the tallest Hanuman temple in the district.
Unique Features of the Temple
A remarkable aspect of this temple is that the eyes of the idol are made of pure gold, adding to its uniqueness. The temple was consecrated on May 25, 2013, and according to the temple priest, Vinay Mishra, it took around ten years to complete the temple and the idol, crafted by artisans from West Bengal.
