Delicious and Nutritious Hummus Recipe You Can Make at Home
Discover the Delight of Hummus
Hummus is a beloved dish originating from the Middle East, commonly enjoyed as a dip. This flavorful spread is crafted from boiled chickpeas, tahini (a sesame seed paste), lemon juice, and garlic. Not only is it tasty, but it also provides a rich source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats.
Making hummus at home is quite simple, and it pairs well with various dishes. If you're interested in preparing this delightful dip, here’s an easy recipe to follow.
Simple Hummus Recipe
Ingredients Needed:
To create hummus, gather 1 cup of chickpeas (soaked overnight and boiled), 2 to 3 tablespoons of tahini, 2 to 3 garlic cloves, 2 to 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive oil, 2-3 ice cubes, salt to taste, 1/2 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder, and the reserved water from boiling the chickpeas.
Steps to Prepare Hummus:
Begin by soaking the chickpeas overnight. The following day, add a pinch of salt and boil them until they are tender. Drain the chickpeas, but keep the boiling water for later use.
Next, place the boiled chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and roasted cumin powder into a blender.
Blend the ingredients until smooth. If the mixture appears too dry, add olive oil and the ice cubes. The ice cubes will help achieve a light and creamy texture.
Blend again, and if the hummus is still too thick, gradually incorporate the reserved chickpea water, one tablespoon at a time, until you achieve the desired consistency. Aim for a texture that is just right—not too thick or too runny.
Finally, transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Create a small indentation in the center using a spoon and drizzle extra virgin olive oil into it. For garnish, sprinkle some Kashmiri red chili powder or paprika, and add a few whole boiled chickpeas or chopped coriander leaves for an appealing finish.
