A Proud Moment for Akshay Kumar

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar shared a touching tribute to his niece, Simar Bhatia, as she steps into the acting world with her role in the film Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan.

On Instagram, Akshay conveyed his pride in Simar's debut, posting the film's trailer on his story. He wrote, “My little Simi isn’t so little anymore… from performing in our living room to shining on the big screen in #Ikkis, my heart is overflowing with pride! @simarbhatia18. And Agastya, what a remarkable screen presence! Wishing immense success to the entire team,” extending his good wishes to both Simar and her co-star, Agastya Nanda.

Recently, the film's creators released the trailer for the anticipated war drama Ikkis, showcasing Agastya Nanda as the brave young war hero, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal.

Ikkis narrates the inspiring true story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was only 21 during the conflict. “Woh Ikkis Ka Tha, Ikkis Ka Hi Rahega!” the filmmakers stated.

The trailer provides a glimpse into the soldier's journey, starting from his time at the National Defence Academy to achieving glory for his nation through his “courage and conviction.” It opens with a resolute Agastya Nanda, who pledges to earn the esteemed Param Vir Chakra for his regiment.

As the trailer unfolds, Agastya, portraying Arun Khetarpal, is depicted training rigorously at the academy before joining the forces for the Indo-Pak war.

The trailer also hints at a romantic subplot alongside Nanda’s selection for the war, featuring Arun Khetarpal’s iconic tank, the Famagusta, which he commanded during the Indo-Pakistan conflict.

Veteran actor Dharmendra plays the role of Arun Khetarpal’s father, while Jaideep Ahlawat portrays an army officer who remarks, “Your son is a shining example for both the Indian Army and the Pakistan Army.”

The trailer wraps up with Arun Khetarpal’s legendary final words, “No, Sir. I will not abandon my tank. My gun is still operational. I’ll take them down.”

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, 'Ikkis' also stars Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia.

The film is set to release in theaters in December 2025.
