S8UL Esports Secures Spot in Apex Legends at EWC 2026
S8UL Esports Achieves Apex Legends Qualification
S8UL Esports, a prominent name in the esports and gaming content arena, has successfully qualified for the Apex Legends tournament at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026. This achievement follows their impressive performance in the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) 2026: Split 1 Pro League - APAC South, marking Apex Legends as the fourth title for which the organization has secured a place at this prestigious global event.
Journey to Qualification
The ALGS 2026 Split 1 Pro League - APAC South featured 30 elite teams from the region, divided into two phases: the Triple Round Robin and the Regional Final. In the Triple Round Robin, teams were grouped into three sets of ten, competing in six match series over 36 games. The top 20 teams progressed to the Regional Final, with Pro League Points awarded based on their performances in both phases. These points determined the final standings, with the top eight teams earning a spot in the ALGS 2026 Split 1 Playoffs at the EWC 2026.
S8UL's all-Australian team, consisting of Rick Wirth (Sharky), Benjamin Spaseski (Jesko), and Tom Canty (Legacy), under head coach Harrison Rogers, showcased remarkable consistency throughout the season. They amassed 106 Pro League Points during the Triple Round Robin, finishing second in the standings and advancing to the Regional Final. Continuing their strong performance, S8UL earned an additional 21 Pro League Points in the Regional Final, concluding the regular season with a total of 127 Pro League Points, which secured their qualification for the global event and earned them USD 15,000 (approximately INR 14.2 lakh) in prize money along with 1,350 Championship Points towards the ALGS 2025-26 rankings.
Coach's Insights on Team Performance
"The APAC South region is one of the most competitive in Apex Legends globally, so qualifying for the Esports World Cup is a significant achievement. Our team demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the split, which was a crucial aspect of our strategy from the beginning. We are thrilled to represent S8UL at the EWC again and aim to build on the momentum we've created this year. Our focus now is on refining our strategy, enhancing our teamwork, and preparing for the international competition ahead," stated Harrison Rogers, the coach of S8UL's Apex Legends team.
Continued Success and Global Aspirations
This marks S8UL's second consecutive year competing in Apex Legends at the EWC. After reaching the Grand Finals of the ALGS 2025 Midseason Playoffs at EWC 2025, the organization has solidified its position among the world's top teams. Earlier this year, S8UL achieved a historic top-five finish at the ALGS 2026 Championship, the best result ever for an Indian esports organization in this title on the global stage. With this momentum, S8UL will return to EWC 2026, where 40 of the world's leading teams will compete in the ALGS 2026 Split 1 Playoffs for a prize pool of USD 2 million (~ INR 19 crore) from July 7 to July 11.
"Success in esports is rarely defined by a single tournament. It is built through sustained investment and support in players, coaching staff, and a culture that encourages excellence over the long term. Our Apex Legends team has consistently proven itself against some of the strongest competition in the APAC region, and qualifying for the Esports World Cup once again is a testament to its preparation, discipline, and hard work. As we continue expanding our global footprint, achievements like these reinforce our commitment to competing at the highest level and carrying the S8UL banner onto the biggest stages in esports," remarked Animesh Agarwal, Co-founder and CEO of S8UL.
Expanding Presence at EWC 2026
S8UL has been selected for the Esports Foundation's Club Partner Program for the second consecutive year and has launched its most ambitious international esports campaign yet, aiming for qualification across 13 titles at EWC 2026. While continuing to recruit elite international talent, the organization emphasizes Indian representation within its competitive ecosystem. This strategy is already yielding results, as S8UL's Honour of Kings roster, featuring Indian players, has qualified for EWC 2026. Additionally, Indian chess grandmasters Nihal Sarin and Aravindh Chithambaram have become the only players from the country to qualify for the chess competition so far. The organization has also secured a spot in Fortnite through its international roster and now adds Apex Legends to its growing list of confirmed titles for the event.
EWC 2026 is set to take place in Paris, France, from July 6 to August 23, featuring over 2,000 players from 200 clubs across more than 100 countries competing for a record-breaking prize pool of USD 75 million (Rs 714 crore). With confirmed qualifications in four titles, S8UL is enhancing its global presence while pursuing additional qualifications ahead of the tournament.
