Tilak Varma Climbs to Third in ICC T20I Batting Rankings
Dubai: Tilak Varma of India has ascended to the third position in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, as per the latest update released on Wednesday. He now boasts 804 rating points, trailing behind fellow Indian Abhishek Sharma, who holds the second spot.
Leading the batting rankings is Australia’s Travis Head, while Suryakumar Yadav has dropped to sixth place, making him the only other Indian player in the top ten.
In the bowling category, Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi maintain their positions at third and seventh, respectively. Additionally, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has also made it to the top ten with 653 points.
Hardik Pandya remains the top all-rounder with 252 rating points.
In other notable movements, England’s Adil Rashid has climbed to second in the bowling rankings after a stellar performance in the T20I series against West Indies, where he took 1/22, 1/59, and 2/30 in three matches. Rashid now has 710 points, just 13 behind New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, who leads with 723 points.
Teammate Brydon Carse has also improved his standing, moving up 16 places to 52nd with 493 points after taking two wickets in the last two matches.
Ben Duckett from England surged 48 spots to 16th after scoring a rapid 84 off 46 balls in the final T20I, while Harry Brook climbed six places to joint-38th with scores of 35 not out and 34 in the series.
For the West Indies, captain Shai Hope advanced 14 places to 15th with two scores in the 40s, and Rovman Powell entered the top 20 following an unbeaten 79 off 45 balls in the last match.
All-rounder Jason Holder also made strides, moving up 16 places to 26th in the all-rounder rankings after contributing 70 runs and taking a wicket during the series.
