Suriya's Karuppu Achieves Box Office Success on Day 25 Despite OTT Release Announcement
Karuppu's Continued Box Office Success
Suriya's film Karuppu is still performing impressively at the box office, even on its 25th day, earning Rs 53 lakh on Monday. Directed by RJ Balaji and featuring Trisha Krishnan, the movie experienced an 18.8 percent decline from Sunday but maintained solid occupancy during the weekdays. Even with its OTT release set for June 12, the film continues to attract audiences. Karuppu has now become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year, breaking Suriya's recent dry spell and surpassing other films like Thalapathy Vijay's Master and Varisu.
Box Office Performance on Day 25
As per trade reports, the film's strong performance on Monday was largely due to occupancy levels, which were around 19 percent, contributing Rs 48 lakh from theatrical screenings. The Telugu version also added Rs 5 lakh with an occupancy rate of 18 percent. Despite entering its fourth week and the announcement of its OTT release, Karuppu continues to show robust box office numbers.
On its fourth Sunday, the film grossed Rs 1.75 crore, followed by Rs 1.47 crore on Saturday and Rs 83 lakh on Friday. It had a remarkable opening week, collecting over Rs 113.85 crore, followed by Rs 54.30 crore in the second week and Rs 21.20 crore in the third week. With Monday's earnings, the film's net collection in India has reached Rs 193.93 crore, while the gross total stands at Rs 224.15 crore. Internationally, Karuppu added Rs 10 lakh on Monday, bringing its overseas total to Rs 80.70 crore, resulting in a worldwide collection of Rs 304.85 crore.
Globally, Karuppu currently ranks behind films like Leo and The GOAT in lifetime box office figures. However, it continues to outperform several other major Tamil releases, including Vijay's Master and Sarkar, by a considerable margin.
