Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 Shooting Concludes: What’s Next for Georgekutty?
Shooting Wraps Up for Drishyam 3
Chennai: According to industry insiders, the filming of the much-anticipated Malayalam movie Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring the renowned Mohanlal, has officially concluded.
Mohanlal had finished his scenes on Monday, and a celebratory video of him cutting a cake with the crew has since gone viral.
A photo of the film's clapboard displaying the word 'Pack Up' is circulating on social media, confirming that the shooting has indeed wrapped.
Notably, Mohanlal began this project just before receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema.
The film, which marks the third chapter in the acclaimed franchise, was launched with a traditional puja ceremony at a law college near Kochi in September.
Director Jeethu Joseph shared with the media that Drishyam 3 will delve into the next phase of Georgekutty's life, the beloved character portrayed by Mohanlal.
Joseph explained, "The narrative centers on Georgekutty's life after four-and-a-half years, which is the essence of the story."
Producer Antony Perumbavoor, who has collaborated with Mohanlal for years and played a pivotal role in the Drishyam series' success, mentioned that the decision to create a third installment followed extensive discussions.
"The overwhelming response to the first two films assured us that Georgekutty's journey still had more to reveal. We finalized this new version only after thorough discussions with Jeethu," Perumbavoor stated.
The filming took place in various locations, including Thodupuzha and Vagamon, with the final five-day schedule occurring in Ernakulam.
The Drishyam films have gained a cult following in Indian cinema, celebrated for their compelling storytelling, intricate suspense, and Mohanlal's outstanding performances.
The original film, released in 2013, set new standards in Malayalam cinema, while its sequel, which debuted in 2021, achieved record-breaking viewership in theaters and on streaming platforms.
Producers have announced that Drishyam 3 is expected to hit theaters in March 2026, and anticipation is already building among audiences both in India and internationally.
