During his visit to India, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that India plans to purchase $500 billion in American products over the next five years, emphasizing sectors such as energy, technology, and agriculture. Rubio, who is on a four-day diplomatic trip, shared insights about the growing partnership between Washington and New Delhi, showcasing images from his meetings with key Indian officials.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Rubio expressed gratitude towards US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, and the American diplomatic team for their efforts in facilitating this significant commitment. He stated, "Thanks to their hard work, India is set to invest in US goods, focusing on crucial areas like energy and technology. They are doing an excellent job representing President Trump and the American populace!"
Rubio further highlighted the importance of the US-India relationship, discussing various topics including the Middle East situation, energy collaboration, and securing vital supply chains. He extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit the White House on behalf of the President.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor remarked on the productive discussions held with Modi, focusing on enhancing cooperation in security, trade, and critical technologies, which are essential for both nations and contribute to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. He emphasized India's role as a crucial partner for the United States.
Additionally, Rubio engaged in discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, stating, "The US and India are not merely allies; we are strategic allies, which is of utmost importance. Our partnership transcends regional boundaries, allowing us to explore collaborative opportunities globally, including in the Western Hemisphere and beyond."
