New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian women's cricket team, has officially announced the cancellation of her wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal, putting an end to weeks of speculation. She has requested that both families' privacy be respected during this time.


The renowned cricketer took to social media to clarify the situation after rumors about her personal life surged over the past month.


"I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same," she stated.


Originally scheduled for November 23, the wedding was postponed due to her father, Shriniwas, being hospitalized with a heart condition.


"Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time," she expressed in her Instagram post.

Describing herself as a "very private person," Mandhana felt compelled to clarify the situation.


She urged fans and the public to "respect the privacy of both families" and allow them the "space to process and move on."


As she prepares for the upcoming international cricket season, Mandhana emphasized that her focus remains on the sport.


"I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible," she added.


This announcement follows comments from singer Palak Muchhal, who expressed that both families have faced a challenging time and emphasized the importance of positivity.
