Rajasthan Royals Triumph Over Mumbai Indians

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] - On May 24, Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag expressed satisfaction after their victory against Mumbai Indians, which secured their place in the IPL 2026 playoffs. However, he acknowledged that there are still aspects of their game that need enhancement.

Batting first, the Royals set a challenging target of 205 runs, finishing their innings at 205/8. In response, the bowlers from RR showcased a disciplined effort, limiting the Mumbai Indians to 175 runs, thus achieving a convincing 30-run win.

Parag elaborated on the strategic decision to elevate Jofra Archer in the batting order, aiming to boost the scoring rate, as the pitch demanded a more aggressive approach rather than a cautious one.

“It’s always satisfying when strategies work out. While we’ve secured the win and qualified, there are still many areas for improvement. I wanted our set batsman to last longer at the crease. We needed runs, and on this wicket, having two players batting at a run-a-ball pace isn’t ideal. One player needed to take charge and be bold. I’ve made several tough decisions this season, which reflects my leadership style,” Parag stated post-match.

Jofra Archer delivered an outstanding all-round performance, contributing significantly to RR's victory over MI at Wankhede Stadium. He scored a brisk 32 runs off just 15 balls, helping his team surpass the 200-run mark, and later took three wickets for only 17 runs, dismantling the MI batting lineup.

With this win, Rajasthan Royals accumulated 16 points, overtaking Punjab Kings, who finished with 15 points. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians ended the season in ninth place with four wins and ten losses, totaling eight points. This victory also set up an eliminator match for the Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mullanpur on Wednesday.
