Jaiswal Shines in Final ODI Against South Africa

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 6: Jwala Singh, the childhood coach of Yashasvi Jaiswal, expressed his delight following the batter's first ODI century during the concluding match of the India vs South Africa series. Jwala noted that Jaiswal's return to form after facing challenges in the earlier two ODIs was particularly gratifying.

After scoring 18 and 22 in the first two ODIs, Jaiswal made a remarkable comeback, reaching his century off 111 deliveries. He finished with an impressive 116 not out from 121 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes, leading India to a nine-wicket victory and securing the series 2-1. Rohit Sharma (75) and Virat Kohli (66 not out) also played crucial roles in the win.

In an interview, Jwala Singh remarked that Jaiswal has established himself as a versatile player, excelling in T20Is and Tests across different nations. He stated, “There has been ongoing discussion about Yashasvi being an all-format player, and he has certainly demonstrated that in T20Is. In Test cricket, he has competed in various countries, including Australia and England, and has faced numerous challenges. This match was vital for him, especially after Shubman Gill's absence, and I am thrilled he scored a century, contributing to India's victory.”

Regarding Rohit Sharma, Jwala acknowledged the skepticism surrounding his fitness and form but praised his determination and skill. He highlighted Rohit's impressive return to One-Day cricket after a lengthy break, reinforcing his reputation as the 'Hitman.'

“Critics doubted Rohit's fitness, but he has shown remarkable passion on the field. After a long hiatus, he returned to play in Australia, and despite a rough start, he proved his critics wrong with his performance,” Jwala added.

On Virat Kohli, Jwala expressed hope that Kohli might reconsider his early retirement from Test cricket, emphasizing that he still possesses the fitness to contribute significantly. He commended Kohli's recent performances, asserting that both Kohli and Rohit have much to offer to Indian cricket.

“I admire Virat Kohli and believe he should reconsider his decision to retire from Tests. He remains fit and has made a strong comeback, scoring a fifty in this match. Both Kohli and Rohit still have a lot of cricket left in them and can continue to serve the nation,” Jwala Singh concluded.
