The captain of the Indian T20I team, Suryakumar Yadav, has spoken out against critics who suggest he might lose his captaincy due to a slump in performance. He firmly denied allegations that a wrist injury is affecting his batting skills. Yadav emphasized that those spreading such rumors lack a proper understanding of cricket, noting that his signature shots heavily rely on wrist movement. He stated, “I don’t focus on these comments. If I truly had a wrist issue, I wouldn’t be able to execute my flick shots, which are crucial to my game.”


Suryakumar Yadav Reflects on Recent Performance

Yadav defended his recent performance, highlighting his achievements during the home series against New Zealand and the T20 World Cup, while acknowledging that his IPL season fell short of expectations. He remarked, “I’ve put in a lot of effort this season. I was named Player of the Series in the New Zealand series and felt I performed well in the World Cup. Although my IPL performance wasn’t great, I continued to work hard.” He added that while performance is unpredictable, dedication is within his control, stating, “I keep pushing myself, and I believe that eventually, the results will come.” In the 2026 IPL, Yadav managed to score only 270 runs across 13 matches, averaging 20.76 with two half-centuries.
