ICC Disciplinary Actions from Asia Cup 2025 Matches Revealed
Outcomes of ICC Code of Conduct Proceedings
New Delhi, November 4: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the results of various Code of Conduct hearings related to matches held during the ICC Asia Cup 2025.
These hearings were overseen by members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, focusing on incidents that occurred during the matches between India and Pakistan on September 14, 21, and 28.
Numerous violations were noted during the match on September 14.
After a hearing led by ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson, Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India, was found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses actions that tarnish the sport's reputation. He received a fine amounting to 30% of his match fee and was assigned two demerit points.
Pakistan's opener, Sahibzada Farhan, was also found guilty of the same infraction and received an official warning along with one demerit point.
Additionally, his teammate Haris Rauf faced similar consequences, being fined 30% of his match fee and accruing two demerit points.
On September 21, during the Super Four match between these teams, a significant ruling was made.
ICC Match Referee Andy Pycroft determined that Indian bowler Arshdeep Singh was not guilty of an alleged breach of Article 2.6, which involves using obscene, offensive, or insulting gestures, resulting in no penalties.
In the final match on September 28, both Jasprit Bumrah from India and Haris Rauf from Pakistan were scrutinized.
Jasprit Bumrah accepted a charge under Article 2.21 for conduct that brings the game into disrepute, agreeing to an official warning and receiving one demerit point. Since he accepted the sanction, no formal hearing was necessary.
Meanwhile, Haris Rauf was again found guilty of breaching Article 2.21 after a hearing with ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson. He was fined 30% of his match fee and received two additional demerit points.
This brings Rauf's total to four demerit points within a 24-month timeframe, resulting in two suspension points under the ICC's disciplinary guidelines. Consequently, Rauf is suspended for Pakistan's ODI matches against South Africa on November 4 and 6.
