The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a forecast for exceptionally heavy rainfall, exceeding 21 cm, in various regions of the country this week. The alert is particularly critical for states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh. The IMD has issued a 'Red Color Warning' to indicate the potential for hazardous weather conditions, clarifying that this does not equate to a 'Red Alert.'

On July 18, significant rainfall is anticipated in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala. Additionally, heavy showers are expected in Rajasthan and South Interior Karnataka on the same day. Kerala is likely to experience intense rainfall on July 19 and 20.

From July 18 to 23, heavy to very heavy rains are forecasted for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in North India, with particularly severe conditions expected in Uttarakhand during this period.

The weather will also be quite active in East and Central India, where heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted for Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Continuous rainfall is also expected in certain areas along the Konkan coast, including Goa and Maharashtra.

In the next five days, strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h are likely to affect the peninsular regions of South India.
