Arrests Made in Blackmail Case

In a shocking incident in Mangaluru, Karnataka, two officials from the Youth Congress have been apprehended for allegedly extorting ₹2.77 crore from a businessman over a two-year period through a honey trap scheme. The accused have been identified as Nizam, the General Secretary of the Youth Congress in Mangaluru, and his associate Jitesh. Their arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Urwa police station.

According to the complaint, the businessman was blackmailed using explicit images and videos of him. The suspects reportedly threatened to disseminate this material among the businessman's family members if he failed to comply with their financial demands.

Details of the Extortion Scheme

Authorities revealed that the businessman initially acquiesced to the demands, fearing the public exposure of his private information. Investigators claim that the extortion case escalated further when one of the accused allegedly committed suicide, leaving behind a note that threatened the businessman with arrest if he ceased payments. The police reported that the businessman continued to make payments from 2024 to 2026, resulting in a total extortion of ₹2.77 crore.

Discovery of the Fraud

The fraudulent scheme came to light earlier this month when the businessman discovered Jitesh alive and well in Mangaluru. Suspecting foul play, he contacted the police, leading to the filing of a case and subsequent arrests. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged blackmail operation and whether other individuals were involved in this scheme. Further inquiries are ongoing.
