Varanasi's Dev Diwali 2025: A Spectacular Celebration with 2.5 Million Diyas

Dev Diwali 2025 in Varanasi promises to be a breathtaking spectacle with 2.5 million diyas illuminating the Ganges. The festivities will kick off with a grand lighting ceremony, followed by mesmerizing Ganga Aarti and a stunning laser show. With traffic restrictions in place and designated parking areas for visitors, the city is set to welcome thousands of devotees. Dev Diwali Festivities in Varanasi

On the occasion of Dev Diwali, the city of Varanasi will be adorned like a bride. Devotees are preparing to welcome the deities by lighting a total of 2.5 million diyas along both banks of the Ganges. An extraordinary display will also be created with approximately 300,000 lamps on the opposite bank. The festivities will commence with the lighting of lamps at all ghats from 5:15 PM to 5:50 PM. Following this, special Ganga Aarti will take place at prominent ghats including Namo Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Sheetala Ghat, and Assi Ghat from 6:00 PM to 6:50 PM.


Laser Show and Fireworks

At Chet Singh Ghat, a laser show will begin at 6:15 PM, repeating three times at hourly intervals. At 8 PM, a firecracker show will light up the sky in front of the Kashi Vishwanath Ganga Dwar, accompanied by a team performing Shiva Dhun. This spectacular event will last for 15 minutes, illuminating the night sky with green fireworks. The entire city will witness this divine spectacle as the Ganga Aarti, laser show, and fireworks create a magnificent blend of spirituality and devotion.


Traffic Restrictions in Varanasi

On Dev Diwali, traffic regulations will be in effect, restricting not only external vehicles but also local ones within the city. All vehicles will be required to park in designated areas. Under the no-vehicle zone at Godaulia-Maidagin, VIPs, ministers, and judges will park their vehicles at Maidagin parking and will use golf carts to reach Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the ghats.


Parking Arrangements for Visitors

In anticipation of the large crowds for Dev Diwali, the police have designated 18 parking spots for two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles across Varanasi. Locations include Town Hall, Harishchandra Inter College, Anglo-Bengali Inter College, Jai Narayan Inter College, Sanatan Dharma Inter College, Godaulia Multi-Level Two-Wheeler Parking, PDR Mall, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Chowkaghat ITI College, Beniabagh Parking, Nati Imli Bharat Milap Ground, under the Samne Ghat Bridge, and Ayurvedic College.


Safety Measures for the Festival

With the influx of devotees at the Ganga ghats since morning, preparations for the lighting of lamps and Aarti will ramp up in the afternoon. The administration has implemented robust security measures to ensure that attendees can enjoy this divine festival without any issues.


Chief Minister's Participation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also participate in the Dev Diwali celebrations in Varanasi, lighting the first diya at Namo Ghat.
