Two Arrested for Snatching Handbag from NRI Senior Citizen in East Delhi

In the Pandav Nagar area of East Delhi, law enforcement has apprehended two individuals accused of snatching a handbag from a senior citizen who is an NRI (Non-Resident Indian). The police disclosed this information on Monday.


Details of the Crime

The suspects have been identified as Rohit, 26, and Mukul, 24. They targeted a woman who had arrived from the UK on October 28. According to a senior police official, the duo approached her on a motorcycle while she was walking and swiftly stole her handbag before fleeing the scene.


Recovery of Stolen Items

The police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime, along with gold jewelry, £135 in cash, the victim's mobile phone, wallet, passport, and other important documents from the suspects.


Investigation Process

Following the filing of a complaint, an investigation was initiated. The authorities examined footage from over 150 CCTV cameras installed along a 15-kilometer stretch, which ultimately led to the suspects' capture based on a tip-off.


Motive Behind the Crime

During interrogation, the accused confessed to their crime, explaining that they were facing financial difficulties. They specifically targeted the woman, knowing she was an NRI and likely possessed valuable items.
