Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Pregnant Woman and Husband in Tamil Nadu

Fatal Accident in Karur District

Karur (Tamil Nadu), June 9: A heartbreaking road accident near Aravakurichi in Tamil Nadu's Karur district resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a pregnant woman and her husband. Two others, including their two-year-old daughter, suffered serious injuries early Tuesday morning, according to police reports.

The victims have been identified as V. Aravind, aged 30, his 28-year-old wife A. Janani, who was eight months pregnant, and the car driver, P. Veera, 40.

Aravind and Janani were from Karuthi Veeranpatti, located near Usilampatti in Madurai district, while Veera resided in Nethaji Nagar, Usilampatti.

The injured parties include the couple’s toddler, A. Vaveera, and P. Pandithurai, 32, from Kalaivanar Street in Aravakurichi. Both were promptly taken to a hospital for medical care.

As per police accounts, the family was returning to Madurai from Bengaluru in a vehicle operated by Veera when the incident occurred on the Karur–Dindigul National Highway.

The collision took place around 6 a.m. at the junction of Esanatham Cross Cut Road. Initial investigations suggest that a motorcycle, ridden by Pandithurai, was in front of the car when he made a sudden right turn across the highway. In an attempt to avoid hitting the motorcycle, the driver swerved sharply to the left, losing control and crashing into a stationary van parked on the roadside.

The crash was catastrophic, resulting in the front of the car being severely damaged.

Tragically, Aravind, Janani, and Veera sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The couple’s daughter and the motorcyclist were left with serious injuries.

Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Aravakurichi police station quickly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations.

The injured were extricated from the wreckage and taken to a government hospital for urgent treatment.

Authorities later recovered the bodies of the deceased for postmortem examinations. The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the busy national highway, but normal flow was restored shortly after. A case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
