Goa's Chief Minister Responds to Nightclub Tragedy

Panaji: On Sunday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced a magisterial investigation into the devastating fire at a nightclub that resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals.

In a statement to the media, Sawant confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against both the nightclub's owner and its general manager, who are expected to face arrest.

The incident occurred at Birch by Romeo Lane shortly after midnight. This popular nightlife spot, situated approximately 25 kilometers from Panaji, had opened its doors just last year.

CM Sawant expressed his condolences on social media, stating, "I am closely monitoring the aftermath of the tragic fire incident in Arpora, which has claimed 25 lives and left six others injured."

He reassured the public that all six injured individuals are currently stable and receiving top-notch medical attention. A thorough inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire and assign accountability.

Sawant noted that this incident marks the first of its kind in Goa's history.

Initial investigations suggest that the fire ignited on the first floor of the establishment, and due to overcrowding and narrow exits, patrons struggled to evacuate. Some were trapped on the ground floor as they attempted to escape.
