Tragic Farewell: Twisha Sharma's Last Rites Amid Allegations of Dowry Harassment
Twisha Sharma's Heartbreaking Farewell
In Bhopal, the cremation of Twisha Sharma, a former model and actress from Noida, took place on Sunday following a second autopsy conducted by a team from AIIMS Delhi. Twisha, who tragically passed away on May 12 at her in-laws' residence, was reportedly a victim of dowry harassment.
The atmosphere at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat was filled with sorrow as family members, including her mother, mourned deeply during the last rites held after 5 PM. The emotional farewell was marked by rituals as the funeral pyre was ignited.
Twisha's father, Navnidhi Sharma, expressed his grief, stating, "Today, we say goodbye to a daughter, sister, and friend whose life was cut short. Her dreams and aspirations have been extinguished too soon, leaving us with a haunting silence and a plea for justice from society."
At the age of 33, Twisha was discovered hanging in her home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal. Her family has accused her in-laws of subjecting her to dowry harassment and contributing to her suicide, while her in-laws allege that she struggled with drug addiction.
Authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against her husband, Samarth Singh, a lawyer, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a former district judge, on charges related to dowry harassment.
Samarth Singh was apprehended in Jabalpur after evading capture for ten days and has since been placed in a seven-day police custody by a Bhopal court.
