New Delhi, May 27: A 17-year-old student sustained severe injuries after being shot at a restaurant located in the Amar Colony area of southeast Delhi. The incident occurred when he reportedly confronted a group of young men who brushed against his chair. Police confirmed that one of the three suspects was arrested on Wednesday.

The shocking event has led to an extensive investigation, with several police teams reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the suspects' movements.

Sources indicate that the apprehended individual is a juvenile and is not considered the primary shooter in this case.

Authorities reported that the police control room received a call about the shooting at approximately 7:54 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Sahil, was dining with friends when a group of boys passed their table. During this encounter, one of the boys allegedly made contact with Sahil's chair, prompting him to request that they walk properly.

Investigators revealed that the group initially exited the restaurant following the brief confrontation but returned shortly thereafter.

According to officials, one of the youths then allegedly fired at Sahil before fleeing the scene with the others. He was the sole individual injured in this incident.

Upon receiving reports of the shooting, local police, along with the Station House Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Police, quickly arrived at the location. However, by the time they reached, the injured student had already been taken to the hospital by friends and local residents.

Senior police officials later visited the hospital, where they discovered the teenager unconscious and on ventilator support.

Initially admitted to Moolchand Hospital, Sahil was subsequently referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for more advanced care.

Medical professionals have stated that while the teenager remains in critical condition and on ventilator support, his current status is stable.

Police are conducting raids to locate and apprehend the other suspects involved in the shooting, and they are analyzing CCTV footage from surrounding areas as part of their investigation.
