Shooting Incident in Azamgarh Claims Life of Local Man
Tragic Shooting in Azamgarh
On Saturday evening, a man riding a motorcycle was shot by unidentified assailants on the Junedganj bypass in Azamgarh district, leading to his death during treatment at a district hospital. This information was confirmed by a senior police official.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Anil Kumar, the victim, identified as Rajneesh alias Raju, aged 40, was traveling towards the district headquarters around 7 PM. As he approached a culvert near Shyam Hospital on the Junedganj bypass, he was shot at by motorcycle-riding attackers from behind.
The bullet struck him in the right shoulder, causing him to collapse on the spot. Local residents quickly called for an ambulance, and he was rushed to the district hospital. Despite the medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Upon receiving the news, the victim's wife, Ranjana Pandey, who works at the district women's hospital, arrived at the hospital. She has alleged that the shooting was linked to threats from certain individuals over a land dispute.
Following the incident, SP Dr. Anil Kumar and City CO Shubham Todi arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. The police are actively searching for the perpetrators.
