Sanjay Raut Criticizes Rebel TMC Leaders Amid Internal Crisis
Sanjay Raut's Controversial Remarks on TMC Rebels
On Tuesday, Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT) and a member of the Rajya Sabha, stirred controversy by making sharp comments about rebel leaders within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is led by Mamata Banerjee. Sharing a video featuring senior TMC leader and Lok Sabha MP Kirti Azad, Raut suggested that these rebels, whom he labeled as "traitors," should be beaten in the streets.
Raut expressed on X that the esteemed Kirti Azad believes such traitors should be punished publicly. He called for a nationwide movement against them. This statement from Raut comes at a time when the TMC is grappling with one of its most significant internal rebellions in recent years. A faction of nearly 20 Lok Sabha MPs from the TMC, led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has informed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla about their decision to ally with the BJP-led NDA and sever ties with the TMC parliamentary group.
In the video shared by Raut, Kirti Azad criticized the rebel leaders, questioning why they raised their grievances only after the elections. During a press conference in New Delhi alongside TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee, Azad stated, "Our 29 leaders won under the banner of 'Maa, Mati, and Manush.' I want to ask these traitors why they only spoke about their difficulties after the elections and not before?"
Azad urged the rebels to resign and seek re-election on BJP tickets, praising former TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sukendu Shekhar Roy for resigning before criticizing the party.
