The threat posed by leopards is escalating in the tribal area of Bharmaur. Recently, a significant incident occurred in Gram Panchayat Poolan, where a leopard attacked a herd of sheep, marking the second major incident of this nature in the vicinity.

On Tuesday morning, a count of the flock revealed that 16 sheep were found dead, with an additional 6 unaccounted for. The total financial loss is estimated to be in the lakhs.

Residents have reported a surge in leopard attacks in Poolan Panchayat, with this being the second notable incident. The frequency of these attacks has instilled fear among local shepherds, who are increasingly concerned about the safety of their animals.

Deep Thakur, a social worker from Dhudenka, has called on the Forest Department to provide prompt compensation to the affected shepherd and to implement effective strategies to mitigate the growing leopard presence in the area. He cautioned that without timely intervention, shepherds could suffer even greater losses.

Thakur also urged the Bharmaur administration and the state government to establish adequate safety measures for shepherds in this tribal region.
