Mohammed Siraj Withdraws from Upcoming T20I Series; Prasidh Krishna Steps In

Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj has withdrawn from the T20I series against Ireland and England, with Prasidh Krishna taking his place. The BCCI has advised Siraj to rest for better recovery ahead of a busy international season. The Indian team, reigning T20 World Cup champions, will kick off their tour with two matches in Ireland before heading to England for a five-match T20I series. Following this, they will participate in the 2026 Asian Games. The updated squad for the series has also been announced, featuring notable players like Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson.
 

Siraj's Withdrawal from T20I Series

Mohammed Siraj, the Indian fast bowler, has officially pulled out of the T20I squads for the upcoming series against Ireland and England, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday. Prasidh Krishna has been named as his replacement for both series.


"After consultations between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, it has been recommended that Siraj take a rest period as part of his workload management strategy. This precautionary step aims to ensure he recovers adequately ahead of a demanding international season," stated the BCCI.


India's Upcoming White-Ball Tour

The Indian cricket team, current champions of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, is gearing up for a busy white-ball tour that includes matches against Ireland and England. They will kick off with two T20Is in Ireland, followed by a comprehensive series in England.


The first T20I against Ireland is set for June 26, with the second match on June 28. Subsequently, the team will head to England for a five-match T20I series from July 1 to July 11, culminating in a three-match ODI series from July 14 to July 19.


2026 Asian Games Participation

After the tours of Ireland and England, the Indian team will compete in the men's cricket event at the 2026 Asian Games, which will be held in a T20 format from September 24 to October 3.


Ten teams, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Japan, Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Oman, will vie for the gold medal. The tournament will commence with preliminary qualifying rounds from September 24 to 26, followed by quarter-finals on September 28 and 29. The semi-finals are slated for October 1, with the bronze-medal match and the gold-medal final taking place on October 3.
