Meesa Bharti Criticizes Bihar Government's Security Withdrawal for Her Parents
Criticism of Security Withdrawal
Meesa Bharti, a Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has recently condemned the Bihar government's decision to revoke the security of her parents, former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, and issue them an eviction notice. She characterized this action as a diversion tactic to shift public attention away from pressing issues like unemployment and inflation. Speaking to reporters, Bharti questioned the motives behind the state government's decision, highlighting that individuals who have held significant positions, such as the Railway Minister and the first female Chief Minister, are being forced to vacate their residences and have their security withdrawn.
Allegations Against NDA Government
Bharti accused the NDA-led Bihar government of employing such strategies to distract from governance challenges. She pointed out the rising unemployment and inflation rates, asserting that these actions are intended to divert public focus from these critical issues. The controversy began when the Bihar government downgraded the Z-plus security of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Following the reduction of their security, the former Chief Ministers had all remaining security personnel removed from their residence on Circular Road in Patna, which had been assigned under updated security protocols.
Eviction Notice and Government Housing
This situation unfolded after the Bihar government ordered Rabri Devi to vacate her residence on Circular Road, which has since been allocated to Minister Nand Kishore Yadav. The official notice indicated that Rabri Devi was assigned an alternative government residence on Harding Road as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, but she has yet to relocate there.
Chief Minister's Remarks
During a public event in Sheikhpura, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary criticized former officials for treating government residences as personal property. He emphasized that the Chief Minister's residence belongs to the public and should not be regarded as anyone's private estate or ancestral property. He also mentioned that he vacated his government residence within 24 hours of completing his term.
