Kerala Blasters FC Secures Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Sporting Club Delhi
Blasters Showcase Dominance
In a commanding performance, Kerala Blasters FC triumphed over Sporting Club Delhi with a score of 3-0 during their second match in the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 Group D at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Monday. All goals were netted in the first half, featuring a brace from Koldo Obieta (17', 23') and an impressive acrobatic goal from Korou Singh Thingujam (34'). This victory places Kerala Blasters at the top of their group with six points from two matches, while it also marks the end of the tournament for SC Delhi, as Kerala Blasters solidify their chances for a semi-final spot.
Blasters Take Control Early
The Blasters exhibited a strong performance characterized by solid defense, inventive midfield play, and a potent attack. Under the guidance of head coach David Catala, the team maintained control from the outset. They displayed fluid ball movement, applied high pressure, and effectively challenged SC Delhi's five-man defense. Early in the match, Adrian Luna's corner kick found Juan Rodriguez, whose header struck the crossbar, setting an energetic tone for the half. Noah Sadaoui was particularly active in the offensive play, while Nihal Sudheesh's speed kept the Delhi side on the defensive.
First-Half Goals Seal the Match
Kerala Blasters broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when SC Delhi's Ayush Adhikari misplayed a back pass, allowing Koldo Obieta to intercept and score with a right-footed shot past goalkeeper Vishal Yadav, who managed to touch the ball but couldn't prevent the goal.
Just five minutes later, Obieta scored again, completing his brace. Following a series of precise passes, Korou set up Nihal, who then assisted Obieta, allowing him to evade SC Delhi's defenders and slot the ball into the bottom corner, extending the lead to 2-0.
The third goal, arguably the highlight of the match, came in the 34th minute. Captain Luna delivered a beautifully lofted pass into the box, where Korou Singh executed an acrobatic finish, directing the ball into the far corner.
SC Delhi Struggles to Respond
Sporting Club Delhi struggled throughout the first half, failing to register a single shot on target. Their defensive setup appeared weak, and their midfield was unable to keep pace with the Blasters' rhythm.
Second Half Maintains Clean Sheet
In the second half, Augustine Lalrochana nearly scored a consolation goal in the 88th minute, but his attempt was thwarted by goalkeeper Nora Fernandes, preserving Kerala Blasters' clean sheet.
