BJP Criticizes Himachal Pradesh Government for Lack of Gratitude Towards Central Healthcare Support

In a recent statement, BJP spokesperson Sanjay Sharma accused the Himachal Pradesh Congress government of failing to show gratitude towards the Central government for its significant contributions to the state's healthcare infrastructure. Highlighting a major Rs 1,422-crore project in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Sharma emphasized the importance of acknowledging the support received. The funding aims to enhance healthcare facilities across the state, including the construction of a cancer hospital and the introduction of advanced medical technologies. This criticism raises questions about the state government's responsiveness to federal assistance.

BJP's Accusation of Ingratitude

DHARAMSHALA:
In a recent statement, Sanjay Sharma, spokesperson for the BJP in Himachal Pradesh, has criticized the Congress-led state government for its perceived lack of appreciation towards the Central government, despite substantial contributions to the state's healthcare system.

Sharma pointed out that while the Union government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is actively working to enhance healthcare services in Himachal Pradesh, the state leadership fails to acknowledge this support. He stated, “Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu requests assistance from Union ministers but does not show gratitude after receiving it. This behavior is unacceptable,” Sharma expressed.

Major Healthcare Investment

Sharma emphasized a significant initiative where the Union Health Ministry, under Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, has received approval for a substantial Rs 1,422-crore project in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

This project will provide Himachal Pradesh with Rs 1,138 crore in external loan assistance. Of this amount, 80% (approximately ₹1,024 crore) will be funded by the Government of India, while the state government will contribute the remaining 20% (around ₹113.8 crore).

The allocated funds will facilitate the construction of a ₹300-crore cancer hospital in Hamirpur and enhance facilities at Dr RP Medical College Tanda, along with medical colleges in Mandi, Nahan, Chamba, and Shimla. Furthermore, three Tesla MRI machines will be installed in Mandi and Chamba, and robotic surgery systems will be introduced in major medical institutions.

Sharma also mentioned that part of the funding will be directed towards establishing 67 model health institutions throughout the state and digitizing their services to improve accessibility and efficiency.
