Introduction of the 'Viniyam' Digital Platform

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated 'Viniyam', a certified digital platform aimed at modernizing and streamlining operations at all land ports in India. This platform facilitates seamless coordination among various stakeholders, including customs, immigration authorities, the Border Security Force, and other agencies involved in land port operations. During the inauguration, Shah emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision has transformed land ports into the frontline of border security while ensuring smooth and secure trade.

Significance of Land Ports

The concept of land port authorities primarily arose from security concerns. However, under Modi's leadership, these ports have not only become a crucial shield for security but have also played a significant role in facilitating and securing trade. Shah remarked, "This vision has added a new dimension, showing how land ports can serve as a bridge for communication between the people of both countries." He highlighted the impact of land ports on security, trade, and border management, noting their essential role in addressing issues related to illegal trade and migration.

Impact on Trade and Development

After extensive studies, I can confidently state that the rapid development of land ports has not only boosted trade and ensured security but has also contributed to transforming illegal trade into legitimate commerce. Furthermore, in the context of comprehensive development in border areas, where migration has been a significant challenge, land ports have made substantial contributions to resolving this issue. The launch of the LPMS marks a historic step towards India's modern, technology-enabled smart border management system, which aims to enhance trade facilitation, connectivity, and national security, reflecting the nation's strategic focus on achieving a developed India by 2047.
