Air India Rescues Passengers Stranded in Mongolia: A Swift Return to Delhi
Air India’s Successful Relief Operation
New Delhi: On Wednesday morning, Air India successfully transported 228 passengers along with 17 crew members back to Delhi from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
These individuals had been stranded after their flight from San Francisco to Delhi was redirected to Mongolia on Monday due to a technical malfunction.
According to an official statement, the relief flight, which was designated AI183 and utilized a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, arrived in the national capital at approximately 8:24 AM on Wednesday.
Initially, the diverted Boeing 777 aircraft had a total of 245 individuals on board, comprising 228 passengers and 17 crew members, as reported on Monday.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline confirmed, "The relief flight carrying passengers and crew of AI174, who were stranded in Ulaanbaatar, has successfully landed in Delhi this morning."
Air India expressed gratitude to both the relevant authorities and the passengers for their patience and understanding during this unexpected situation.
On Monday, the Tata Group-owned airline noted that flight AI174, which was traveling from San Francisco to Delhi with a stop in Kolkata, made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar after the flight crew detected a potential technical issue during the journey.
The Boeing 777 aircraft landed safely in Ulaanbaatar on Monday.
