Air India Flight Returns to Delhi After Technical Diversion to Mongolia
Air India Successfully Evacuates Passengers from Ulaanbaatar
An Air India aircraft landed in Delhi on Wednesday morning, bringing back 228 passengers and 17 crew members who had been stranded in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The flight, which was en route from San Francisco to Delhi, had to divert to Mongolia due to a technical issue on Monday, leaving the passengers stuck there.
According to an official, the relief flight from Ulaanbaatar arrived in the national capital at approximately 8:24 AM on Wednesday.
The relief operation was conducted using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, designated as flight AI183. A source connected to the incident mentioned that the diverted Boeing 777 had a total of 245 individuals on board, including the passengers and crew.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline confirmed, "The relief flight carrying passengers and crew from AI174, who were stranded in Ulaanbaatar, safely landed in Delhi this morning."
Air India expressed gratitude to its passengers for their patience and understanding during the route change. The airline, owned by the Tata Group, stated on Monday, "Flight AI174, traveling from San Francisco to Kolkata and then to Delhi, was diverted to Ulaanbaatar as a precaution due to suspected technical issues with the flight crew." The Boeing 777 had landed safely in Ulaanbaatar.
