Reviving Family-Centric Cinema: Kritika Kamra's Upcoming Film
The Return of Heartfelt Family Stories
For many years, films focused on family themes have been the emotional core of Hindi cinema, showcasing narratives filled with warmth, unity, and shared morals that resonate through generations. However, in recent years, the trend has shifted towards thrillers, biopics, and darker narratives, making the simple pleasure of wholesome family films increasingly scarce in theaters. Kritika Kamra, an actress known for her diverse and impactful roles, aims to help bring back this genre with her new project directed by Anusha Rizvi, who gained acclaim for her debut film, Peepli Live.
Discussing the film and the importance of such narratives, Kritika expressed, “I truly miss those genuine, small films that made audiences feel acknowledged without excessive effort. The kind that could evoke laughter, tears, and smiles all at once. Somewhere along the line, stories that connected with families—highlighting shared meals, quiet moments, and everyday acts of kindness—seemed to disappear. This collaboration with Anusha feels like a journey back to that cherished realm. It’s straightforward, humorous at times, and profoundly human—something we all seem to long for once more.”
