Delicious Kada Prasad Recipe for Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025
Celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanti with Kada Prasad
The joyous occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, honoring the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of the Sikhs, will take place on November 5, 2025. Visiting a Gurudwara during this time and tasting the first bite of Prasad brings a profound sense of tranquility.
Kada Prasad, made from a simple blend of flour, ghee, and sugar, represents devotion, equality, and the blessings of the Guru. Here’s a straightforward recipe for preparing this delightful offering, requiring just three key ingredients. Let’s dive into the preparation!
Ingredients for Kada Prasad (1:1:1 ratio)
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup desi ghee
1 cup sugar
3 cups water (three times the sugar amount)
Steps to Prepare Kada Prasad
Begin by combining 3 cups of water with 1 cup of sugar in a pot.
Heat it gently until the sugar completely dissolves. Avoid creating a syrup; the goal is just to dissolve the sugar.
Once dissolved, take the mixture off the heat and keep it warm.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat 1 cup of pure ghee.
Once melted, add in the 1 cup of wheat flour.
Lower the heat to medium-low and continuously stir the flour.
Cook until it turns golden brown and releases a pleasant aroma, which should take around 10-15 minutes.
When properly roasted, the flour will appear slightly coarse and will start to separate from the ghee.
Gradually pour the warm sugar water into the roasted flour.
As soon as the water is added, the mixture will start boiling, so stir quickly to prevent lumps from forming.
Keep stirring over high heat until the halwa absorbs all the water and thickens.
When the halwa starts pulling away from the sides of the pan and the ghee reappears, your Kada Prasad is ready.
Turn off the heat. It’s important to note that this Prasad is made without any dry fruits or cardamom; its simplicity is what makes it truly special.
