Fit India Sundays on Cycle: A Nationwide Celebration
The 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was part of a broader national initiative aimed at promoting fitness and sports engagement. On May 24, 2026, this Commonwealth Games Day edition took place at over 8,000 locations across the country, serving as a tribute to India's sporting future and the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030.
Minister Raksha Khadse Highlights India's Preparedness
Raksha Khadse, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, attended the event at IIT Guwahati as the Chief Guest, celebrating the #CWG2030InBharat initiative. She was joined by notable figures including Olympians and Commonwealth Games medallists Jayanta Talukdar and Sushila Devi Likmabam, along with Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati.
In her address, Khadse stressed the significance of initiatives like Sundays on Cycle in fostering a sports-oriented and health-conscious society. She expressed her confidence in India's readiness to host a world-class Commonwealth Games in 2030.

The event was further enriched by the presence of celebrated Commonwealth Games medallists, Sushila Devi, a distinguished judoka, and Jayanta Talukdar, a legendary archer from Assam. Both athletes engaged with attendees, sharing their personal journeys and encouraging the youth of Assam to pursue sports with passion and commitment.
Exhibitions Across the Nation Highlight Sporting Achievements
A Commonwealth Games-themed exhibition was inaugurated in Ahmedabad and at all SAI Regional Centres, showcasing India's sporting accomplishments over the past 12 years. This included milestones achieved under the Khelo India Mission, advancements in sports infrastructure, and the growth of the sports goods manufacturing sector. The initiative aimed to enhance public engagement regarding India's hosting of the 2030 Commonwealth Games while building momentum for the country's long-term Olympic aspirations.
Themed Competitions in Guwahati
The SAI Regional Centre in Guwahati organized 'The Commonwealth Games Open Quiz' on its social media platforms and 'The Commonwealth Games Themed Drawing Competition' in local schools. Winners of both competitions were honored by guests, including Chief Guest Smt. Raksha Khadse, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.
