Exciting New OTT Releases to Watch This Week

This week marks an exciting lineup of new releases on various OTT platforms. From the return of Netflix's 'Sweet Magnolias' to the thrilling Malayalam film 'Dridam', viewers have plenty to look forward to. Additionally, the horror comedy 'Bhooth Bangla' featuring Akshay Kumar and the gripping crime drama 'Raakh' starring Ali Fazal are set to premiere. Upcoming OTT Premieres


As we reach the middle of June, a variety of titles are set to debut on OTT platforms. On June 11, Netflix's small-town drama Sweet Magnolias returns for its fifth season, featuring a trip to Manhattan ahead of a friend's wedding. Following this, Shane Nigam's Malayalam thriller Dridam, produced by Jeeth Joseph, will premiere on JioHotstar on June 12. This film explores a small town plagued by a series of unsettling crimes that trouble both the locals and law enforcement.


Also on June 12, the Zee5 series Taarkata introduces Agni (played by Vikram Chatterjee), a former police officer turned detective who investigates a murder case while grappling with memory loss. The cast includes Meiyang Chang, Priyanka Sarkar, Joydip Mukherjee, Satyam Bhattacharya, and Ayush Das. Additionally, Jason Statham's action-packed film Shelter will be available on Lionsgate Play starting June 12. In this film, Statham portrays a retired assassin who saves a young girl from a shipwreck while residing on a secluded Scottish island.

Where to watch: NetflixRelease Date: June 12 About the film: In this horror comedy, Akshay Kumar's character, Arjun, plans his sister's wedding in a haunted palace in Mangalpur. When he uncovers an ancient curse, he must find a way to break it. The film reunites Kumar with director Priyadarshan, who directed Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), and features Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Paresh Rawal.

Raakh


Where to watch: Amazon Prime VideoRelease Date: June 12 About the series: Ali Fazal stars as a police officer investigating the disappearance and murder of two teenagers in Delhi. The crime drama, directed by Prosit Roy, also features Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir as the teens' parents, with Rakesh Bedi and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in supporting roles. Raakh is co-created and co-directed by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saketbeen.



Karuppu


Where to watch: Amazon Prime VideoRelease Date: June 12 About the film: Suriya's blockbuster Karuppu, co-written and directed by RJ Balaji, makes its OTT debut this week in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film features Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, and RJ Balaji, and tells the story of a revered deity taking human form to combat corruption and injustice during a legal battle.
